For the first time, a female IPS officer, Charu
Sinha, has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) of the
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Srinagar sector, one of the terrorist
affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is not the first time she has been given
such a difficult task, before that, she has worked in the IG, CRPF in the Bihar
region and has dealt with the Naxalites. Under her leadership, various
anti-Naxal campaigns were carried out.
Later, she was transferred to IG Jammu in CRPF
where she spent a long and successful tenure. In the first week of February 2020,
a fresh order appointed her as IG Srinagar Sector.
The current Director General of CRPF AP Maheshwari
headed the Srinagar sector in 2005. The sector, which started functioning in
2005, never had an IG level female officer. The area is involved in
counter-terrorism operations and works closely with the Indian Army along with
the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The CRPF said, Srinagar sector is located in
Brine Nishat of Srinagar (Jammu Kashmir). It started functioning in
2005. Srinagar sector has operational rights over Jammu Kashmir-Budgam,
Ganderbal and Srinagar and three districts of Union Territory of Ladakh. . The
paramilitary said it consisted of 2 ranges, 22 executive units, and 3 women
companies. In addition, the Srinagar sector has administrative control
over the Group Center-Srinagar.
Sinha will also lead all operations involved in
this area.
In addition, 6 IPS officers and 4 senior cadre
officers have also been transferred or inducted into the CRPF. IPS officers
Maheshwar Dayal (Jharkhand Sector), PS Ranpise (Jammu Sector), Raju Bhargava
(Work) have been included in the CRPF. PS Ranpise will replace Charu Sinha as
the head of the Jammu region.
